THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM HERE IN SYLT....

It hasn't been much wind here in Sylt so far, only enough to be able to do like 9 heats of racing or so. but the forecast is insane for the weekend!!!! even for tomorrow could be waves... but the weekend! my god! looks hard-core!!!
In the mean time, we are having some team-time doing some signing for the public. It is pretty cool, because here people love it and they all que for autographs. plus we always have a laugh with the Fanatic team altogether there...

SYLT, HERE WE GO AGAIN!

Once again we are back in Sylt. Today we had the registration, putting all the sitckers on the sails and getting everything ready. Coming here was a bit complicated. we had to wake up at 3 am, so we tried to have and early night, but you know how it is... when you need it, you cant sleep. in the end, only 2 hours sleep and a 12 hours journey: car-plane-bus-train-bike... quite fun though!!!

this is the big opening ceremony we have here every year... thousands of people!!! like always!!!

the forecast is very promising for some hard core action in a couple of days... we will see!!! fingers crossed!!!!

SECOND HAND GEAR

Now that I have all my 2009 gear it is time to sell all my old sails and boards. Boards i only have a FreeWave 77 in really good condition, but sails I have a lot:

GREAT SUCCES CLINIC

In the end, theClinic we just did in El Médano was a great success. the forecast was so bad we thought we were not going to have any wind at all, but in the end, we sailed 4 days properly with some south wind. The people from the clinic was super happy with what they learned and at the end we were pretty sad that the week was finishing. The OTC guys were also super happy and I think a new clinic is starting to be organized already.. so if you would be interested, keep and eye on the news for spring maybe!!!

SIAM WATER PARK SURFING

Hi there!!! as yesterday there was no wind for the clinic, we headed to the brand new water park, SIAM, where they are still testing the surfing pool. we were super lucky as they dont let anyone on it jet, but in the end the guys were really cool and let us give it a try. It is really good, they can produce any wave they want: a right, a left, a closeout, big, small... soooo sweet... as they were texting it, at the beginning they were testing the closeouts to produce a long whitewater line for the begginer on the inside. by the time they were throwing nice rights, the camera battery died! and the actually stop the waves and it was all over!!! they still dont know how will this work for the public, as mainly they want to have a school there... we will know soon and I will keep you updated if i know more...

STARTED THE EL MEDANO CLINIC

esterday we started The International Windsurfing Clinic el Médano. Dani Bruch and the OTC organized this clinic and invited John and myself to be part of the team. The wind was pretty light but perfect to get the people out on the water and do the first lessons. The OTC is actually great, with all the brand new gear ready for you to use perfectly rigged.

THE WIND IS BACK

The wind is back for a couple of days. Today we sailed with strong but really gusty and shifty winds and some nice waves. I am struggling a bit. I have stitches in my hand, between the little finger and the one next to it. I got a deep cut with the fin of my surf board last monday... how are the chances of that?????!!!!!! this year is definitely my year of injuries!!! oh well..... so now I am trying to sail with a latex glove for the stitches to to get wet. So it is not very comfortable... lets see what can i do tomorrow...

I AM AVERY HAPPY GIRL TODAY...

Today I woke up really excited about the conditions, although it wasnt windy, the forecast was calling for some good surfing, and so it was. I spent pretty much all day in the water as you never know if tomorrow wont be good... But, and this is why I am so happy, Josemi Mentado was on the beach taking pics from his little kid (who actually rips at only 10!) and he took some of me too.. i dont have pretty much any pics surfing apart from the ones I put the other day here in the blog, so I am stocked. well.... i am not a very good surfer, but i love it too....

TIME FOR SOME SURFING

Now that the wind has switched off for a bit, it is time to get on out on glassy water.... it feels so nice to be out there with your mates when it is like this. It has been pretty small, but the water is warm and is is fun and as i said, niiiiiiiice.....Plus the forecast is quite good: first, the swell will pick up a bit and by next thursday it looks like the wind will be back with some good waves by saturday too.....

SHORT WEEKEND IN UK AND BACK IN GC NOW...

I missed the last 2 days of the girls camp, quite a pity as I was having a great time with the girls... but I had to go to UK to a wedding, which was super nice too (congrats to Ian and Tam!) and now I am back in GC. Today was special day, cause I could go surfing in the morning in one of my favorites waves, just in front of my house. It was not the best session ever but got a few waves. Then I went down to Vargas and had a fun freestyle session as the waves on the east coast are gone now. Anyways, this are a few frames from last week.
