Hey! long-time-no-see!

yep, I am in Maui already!! since a few days ago. We havent had that good conditions, only two freestyle days in the beginning. But it is ok. Some friends from GC are here so we are doing some touristic stuff. Yesterday we did the infamous Hana Road. men! the beginning was fine, but after three and a half hours in the car and still a two hour walk to do, I snapped bit. but it all passed away when we starter the trail to the big waterfalls. it was just so beautiful!!! . now today I woke up a bit weird, i think is the jet lag and the lack of sleep, so I am having a day in the house. looks like we might have some good conditions the upcoming days and I want to be full power!!!! I have put together a video with all the footage i had from the summer at home, but i still need to finish it a bit more. i will put it up asap.

I THINK I WILL MISS SOME GOOD CONDITIONS.

These last few days hadn´t been that great. the light north breeze we have spoils a bit the surf plus it is pretty small over here in GC. but looking at the forecast, next week it could be really good, but i will be gone by then. it could also not be as the swell is NW and maybe it doesnt hit the East or SE coast, but looks big enough and not too West to get there... oh well! everything happens for a reason!

CHILLING TIME...

Just a little update from GC. Not much wind lately,only light, but actually I am not even thinking much about going windsurfing. I am trying to have a break to recover my shoulder, but instead I am surfing and SUPing! it is the perfect balance and seems to be doing good (as it is the opposite to Windurf, more pushing and less pulling).

Yesterday I drove sooo much! but i had a super fun SUP session in a really fun wave down south. no pictures. sorry!

30 DEGREES AT HOME...SO NICE TO BE BACK!!!

Like always, it is soooooo nice to be back home. But this time even more! after some cold weeks and the punishment of the rain and storm in Sylt, I arrive home and it is so good! I slept for about 3 hours and then I had a mission at the airport with my equipment... by the time I was home I was DEAD!!! today i woke up expecting to have a full day off, but when I looked out the window: it was super sunny and glassy!!!!! so I couldnt resist and just run to the beach for a quick SUP session. I didnt have any energy, but I got a few waves and the being on the water was such a nice feeling!!

IF YOU THINK IT COULDN'T GET ANY HARDER...

WOW!!!!!! yesterday.......

The forecast was scary enough to make me nervous all night. but still in the morning wasnt too hard core. it was just hard (lets call it like that). I did good in the double elimination and i finished 3rd for the event!!! pretty happy with that. but then the conditions got harder and harder, honestly... it got really hard core. but i thought i was already finished and warm, when the news came. i would need to sail again with Karin Jaggi as we were equal points for the for the third place overall ranking. I was scared... properly scared. it was gnarly. but hey, you have to bite it some times, and even if I was really scared, Laure and John and everyone were there supporting us. Men. and we did it. it was 3,3 mega powered up, i could not hold on to my sail. and it was BIG and SCARY. I made a mistake and i played safe then taking a bigger board to be able to get out of the shorebreak easily, but this meant I couldnt ride properly. in the last two minutes i came in and changed board, but then i was too down wind and my last wave was outside the competition area, so in the end I lost and finished fourth over all and Karin third.

But the hero of the day was with no doubt Klaas Voget!!!! he did no less than 9 heats!!! and in hard core sailing... you have to be here ton know how it was. more than respect! he finished second in the end.

so big congrats to all: Musso, Iballa, Karin, Klaas, Josh, Bruch (who did a good come back as well), Johnyboy and also Daida.

SYLT AAAYYYYYYYYY..

It was a very intense day yesterday here in Sylt. We started at 7:15 in the morning. It was dark when I walked to the beach to start preparing my gear. It was fully windy and wavy, and as the minutes passed the waves were getting bigger and bigger. It was super on-shore, with a little bit of starboardtack on it, the current was super strong and the shorebreak really hard. Quite challenging. Johny (Skyeboy) finished 4th!!! And beating the two times World Champion Kauli Seadi on his way!!!!!!!!!! And also great day for Musso! He won! Big congrats!!! And also to Antoine and Josh for sure!

I finished fourth, so I am happy and not happy. I tell you why:

I am really happy because I landed a nice pushloop on startboardtack! So I was quite please with that. and also, because I had one of those special moments: in my second heat I tried to get out, but after 100 m and another 100 dragged by the current I got killed by the shore break and I ended up swimming after my gear and getting pounded on the shorebreak. When I arrived to the beach I was about a mile down-wind from the competition area and it was less than 1 minute to start the heat. I thought that that was it, it was over. But then I questioned myself: ok, I have two options here, or give up totally, or just try again and harder even if it is an impossible mission. And I was very happy that my decision was to try again: I passed the shore break and I was so far down!! but as it was so on shore I could make it back up wind and still had 9 minutes to go.
But on the other hand, I was quite sad I did fourth and not third, and again with Karin! I was winning the heat until the last minute. Being so hard to get out of the shore break the general technique is to stay outside and wait for the last wave to ride it all the way until the inside. And that was my plan. it all went right until in the last wave, when I was going to ride it frontside on the beach, I span out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! men!!!! Now I think about it and want to kill myself!!! Ahhhhh… oh well…. Still the double elimination!! The forecast is insane.. if yesterday it was hard core…. On the weekend it will be hell!!!! And ye… again I am shitting my pants!!! It will be beyond hard core! Iballa did first and Daida second… congrats to them as well…
